Castell Malgwyn, Llechryd; Castle Malgwyn

Dwelling

What is recorded here

Castle Malgwyn stands opposite Llechryd on the south bank of the Teifi, a three-storey Georgian house built around 1795 for Sir Benjamin Hammet. He bought the estate to control nearby tinplate works, closed the old public road through his land, and built bridges across the water conduit and Morgenau brook. The house changed hands several times, became a hotel, and was renamed Hammet House in 2012.
The National Monuments Record of Wales records Castell Malgwyn, Llechryd; Castle Malgwyn as Dwelling from the Post Medieval period. The saved point comes from the official national record. Inclusion does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
