Edward I wanted a perfect castle at the edge of Anglesey, so he built Beaumaris with rings inside rings like a drawing compass set in stone. The mathematics are still visible: round courtyards, round walls, rooms arranged to turn the eye inward. Men may have stood in those clean circles and felt small, because the design leaves no corner for ego to hide.
Castell Biwmares / Beaumaris Castle is shown as a castle on the public map of Ynys Môn / Isle of Anglesey. The saved point is the map point or the centre of its mapped shape.
Built by the Normans in the 12th century, Beaumaris Castle was a key stronghold in the conquest and control of north Wales. It is important as one of the few well-preserved medieval castles on the Isle of Anglesey, reflecting the strategic military efforts of the English Crown in the region.
