Castell Aberlleiniog on the Isle of Anglesey is a medieval motte and bailey castle that later became a post-medieval fort. The site still shows castle earthworks and a Civil War fort, though no standing stone castle remains visible. It is a place where defence changed with time, and the ground still carries the shape of that change.
