Castell Aberlleiniog is a ruined Norman motte and bailey castle near Llangoed on Anglesey, built between 1080 and 1099 by Hugh d’Avranches to project power across the Menai Strait. Gruffudd ap Cynan besieged it in 1094, killed many of its garrison, burned it, and took Anglesey back. Thomas Cheadle later rebuilt the site as an artillery fort during the English Civil War, leaving the broad ramparts and narrow parapet wall still visible today.
