The first arch of Carsaig Arches is a natural limestone arch formed by differential erosion along joints and bedding planes in Carboniferous Limestone, approximately 320 to 340 million years old. It is notable for its dramatic coastal setting and as part of a series of arches formed by wave action and weathering in the rugged Kintyre coastline.
