Carrickmines Castle

Ruins

What is recorded here

Carrickmines Castle guarded the southern edge of the Pale until English forces massacred over three hundred defenders in 1642, leaving human remains trapped inside its bedrock defences. The M50 motorway later cut through the site, forcing activists to camp on the ruins and preserve sections of the medieval walls beneath modern roundabouts. Speed now flows over graves and stone, turning a bloody frontier into a passing shadow for drivers who never know they are racing across a graveyard.
Carrickmines Castle is recorded as a ruins in County Dublin. Its open map record supplies this location and any linked names or public references.
