Carns is a passage tomb on a Leitrim prominence where a ravine may become a turlough flowing from Lough Reane. Its subcircular cairn holds a small polygonal chamber and a faded southeast passage, while other ancient tombs scatter nearby. The changing water suggests people read this landscape as alive, placing death among boundaries that appear and disappear.

Situated on a local prominence in pasture and scrub on the W side of a N-S ravine (Wth c. 100m) that is sometimes the SE end of a turlough extending from Lough Reane, which is c. 800m to the NW. This is a subcircular cairn (dims 14.5m N-S; 13m E-W; H 1.5m-1.7m) with a polygonal chamber (dims 1.3m x 1.3m) protruding from the top of the cairn and the remains of a passage off to the SE. The passage tomb (LE025-093001-) is c. 25m to the NW, a cairn (LE025-093003-) is c. 40m to the WSW and the portal tomb (LE025-092----) is c. 140m to the N.
