Carn

On a low hill, 2km W of Knockmaa (see GA042-064002-). What survives today is a poorly preserved irregular cairn (D c. 15m, H c. 2.5m) much depleted by quarrying in the late 19th C. It was during quarrying in 1902, that a rectangular cist (E-W; L 2.2m, Wth 1.1m, H 1.1m) was discovered on S side of the cairn. It was drystone-built, had a floor slab, and a large capstone (L >2m). It contained an extended skeleton with the head to W. An Irish Vase stood at E end and a portion of another lay near the head.
