What is recorded here

Carn is an unclassified cairn in County Mayo. It is a pile of stones, not a chamber or a court, yet it still stands where the land remembers being marked. People may have built it to aim a gift at the sky, to bury a name or to warn a traveller that the field belonged to someone else. The absence of a label does not erase the act of laying stone upon stone.
