Caraunarootia was an 18.3-metre stone ringfort in Killeeneen Beg, County Galway, built for everyday life or sudden danger. Farmers later moved stones from the field and buried the wall under ordinary rubble. The fort did not fall to enemy or fire; it disappeared through repeated human labour. What remains is a hidden circle, still shaping the grassland though no longer visible.
