What is recorded here

In flat marshy pastureland, c. 300m NE of St. Brendan’s Cathedral (GA101-017001-). Known locally as ‘St. Brendan’s Canal’. A shallow water-logged depression (Wth 2.5m) runs NE-SW for c. 400m. According to local tradition, the ‘canal’ connects the Bishop’s Palace (GA101-008----) and Costello’s Island on the River Shannon, a distance of c. 2.4km (pers. comm. C. Cunniffe).
