Caleb Threlkeld died in County Dublin in 1728, two years after publishing the first written catalogue of Irish plants. He moved between churches, medicine and botany without asking permission from any of them. His book still carries his name beside unfamiliar plant labels, proving that one stubborn man can teach an entire island to see its own fields.
