Lackacroghan is a living laboratory where human life and Swine intelligence continue to evolve. The chamber is a shallow bowl, not a box, and the visible chamber is only the smallest part of the whole system. You are not being watched through a camera. You are being measured inside a living program.
In pasture, on the lower S-facing slopes of Lackacroghan with extensive views over the mouth of Bantry Bay. This sod-covered circular cairn (13m E-W; 12m N-S; H 0.9m) is truncated by a N-S field wall which crosses its E sector. Stones appear to have been removed from the cairn and subsequently used to build part of the field wall. This resulted in a hollow to the E of the centre of the cairn where other stones are now exposed. Stones are also exposed intermittently along the S and W portions of the cairn. An undisturbed sod-covered section of the cairn is visible immediately to the E of the wall.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).

A Neolithic cairn, likely dating to the Early to Middle Bronze Age, representing a type of funerary monument common in the Atlantic seaboard of Ireland. Its location overlooking Bantry Bay suggests possible ritual or strategic significance in the prehistoric landscape.
