What is recorded here

Thirty metres of forgotten road and a vanished boundary castle still shadow the valley, while the cairn stands as the last visible marker of a place that stopped being named. The stones did not fall; people stopped repeating the name that gave them shape. To walk the ridge is to enter the moment a whole town disappeared from memory, leaving only the hill and the road behind it.
Low denuded cairn on a natural rise above Kelly's Rock on the N side of the Island (L 11m, Wth 7m, H 0.60m). There are no kerbstones evident. Compiled by: Geraldine Stout Date of upload: 26 August 2011
