What is recorded here

Seven metres across and barely a breath high, the cairn lies flat in meadow like a stone disc waiting to be heard. It belongs to a larger circle of buried marks beneath the Boggeragh foothills, where grass and forgetting have done their work. To walk past is to refuse the invitation. To sit beside it is to admit that measurement is not the same as understanding.

In reclaimed meadow; 3m to N of second cairn (7859) and 17m to S of third cairn (7861); all three are part of a complex of monuments (7660, 6471, 6491, 6561) in SW foothills of Boggeragh Mountains. Roughly circular cairn (6m E-W; 5.6m N-S; H 0.7m), covered in scrub. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
