Cairn stands on a steep rocky slope above a valley marked by a children’s burial ground and a holy tree, suggesting the stones served life, death and memory at once. Its circular shape, fifteen metres across and two metres high, still distinguishes itself among the older field boundaries of Ailwee Hill. People may have gathered there to honour the dead, watch the valley or claim the land through repeated ceremony.

On a steep rocky E-facing slope overlooking a small fertile valley in which lie a mound (CL006-006001-), a children’s burial ground (CL006-003001-), a ‘holy tree’ (CL006-006002-) and several enclosures (CL006-003002-, CL006-004---- and CL006-007----). Within an extensive field system (CL005-104001-) extending across Ailwee Hill. A roughly circular cairn (15m N-S; 13m E-W; max. H 2.3m at E) comprised of large and smaller stones.
