What is recorded here

Carran is a small Burren village where rocky pasture, old churches and copper mining memory still shape daily life. It is also the birthplace of Michael Cusack, co-founder of the Gaelic Athletic Association, giving the quiet upland a sudden nationwide reach. Saint Columb may have founded an abbey there, and his bed and spring are still named in local tradition.

A subcircular cairn (c. 11.5m NE-SW; c. 10m NW-SE; H c. 2m) with a conical shape. Compiled by: Mary Tunney and Conn Herriott Date of upload: 20 June 2023
A Neolithic cairn, likely dating to the Early to Middle Bronze Age, representing a form of burial or ritual monument common in upland landscapes. Its location on a prominent karst plateau suggests it may have had ceremonial or territorial significance.
