What is recorded here

Carran, meaning the cairn, is a small Burren village where Michael Cusack helped found the Gaelic Athletic Association. It sits among limestone pasture, old churches, copper mines and a clear spring, with barely more than a hundred people living there when last counted. The land remains sharp, quiet and full of marks from earlier hands.
In an ENE-WSW orientated linear depression in rough pasture, on elevated ground within an extensive multiperiod field system (CL010-064001-). This subcircular overgrown cairn (8.5m E-W; 8m N-S; H 0.7-1.2m) has several hollows (D 0.4-0.5m) in the top, due to the removal of stones. A Bronze Age cairn; its location within a multiperiod field system suggests it may be associated with early agricultural or ritual activity in the landscape.
