Carran is a small village in the Burren region of County Clare, Ireland, notable mainly for being the birthplace of Michael Cusack, co-founder of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The land is rocky pasture with much limestone, bounded by County Galway and Kilnaboy, and contains the highest point Slieve Carran. In the village itself are Cassidy's pub, a hostel, bed and breakfasts, a church, an 1858 schoolhouse now used by the Burrenlife Project, and a town hall. Within eight kilometres lie stone forts, Poulnabrone dolmen, a disappearing lake, and limestone pavement.

Situated on level ground with a cashel (CL010-051001-) c. 50m to the NE. Not listed in the SMR (1992) or the RMP (1996). On inspection in 1999 a small circular cairn (diam. 3.2m; H 1.3m) was found with large stones near the base tapering to smaller ones towards the top. This is likely to be a clearance cairn.
