Eochy's Cairn stands sixty-four metres above the valley, a vast Neolithic mound of earth and stone that may be the largest in Connacht. Tradition claims it buries Eochaid mac Eirc after the mythical Battle of Moytura, yet no excavator has ever opened its chest to verify the king's bones. The mound still holds its secret, waiting patiently while the wind strips the grass bare and the lake below changes colour with the sky.
