Carnan Rory stands in Moycraig Lower as a prehistoric cairn, its exact age lost to time but its purpose clear in the stones themselves. Rory Ballaghan may have lived nearby, marked the ground, or simply given the heap a name people could carry into conversation. The cairn still holds that much: a hand-built rise in County Antrim, old enough to outlive every story told about it.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CAIRN: CARNAN RORY or RORY BALLAGHAN'S. Recorded period: PREHISTORIC; UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
