What is recorded here
Half a metre high and seven and a half metres wide, the Arroo cairn crouches on the southern slope of Leean Mountain, its central chamber open to the sky because every roof stone has vanished. Inside the collapsed side-stones lies a rectangular void large enough for a body, waiting for rain, grass, or someone brave enough to look through the gap. The missing stones may have travelled to a wall, a road, or a forgotten house, carrying the dead person’s last address into ordinary life.
Located towards the bottom of the steep S and SE-facing slope of Leean Mountain. This is a subcircular cairn (dims 7.5m N-S; 6.5m E-W; H 0.5m) with a large central cist (dims 2.6m N-S; 2.4m E-W) whose side-stones have largely fallen inwards, but no roof-stones are present.
