Caherrush Castle stands in ruins, a tower house reduced to ghosts and gaps. It belongs to the kind of place where stone remembers more than people do, and the forgetting is the interesting part. What is lost is not nothing; it is the shape of what the living stopped repeating.

Caherrush Castle was built in the late 16th century by the O'Donovan family, a Gaelic Irish clan of the region. It is remembered as an example of a defensive tower house constructed during a period of political instability and English encroachment in western Ireland.
