Cahermurphy Castle (in Ruins) — Report the wrong picture

Cahermurphy Castle stands in ruins at Castlepark, County Clare, a tower house reduced to walls and memory. Whether it guarded a road, a family or a border is no longer certain, but its shape still suggests a place where people watched, waited and belonged. What is lost has not disappeared entirely; it has changed form, leaving behind a name, a hollow field and a chance to imagine the lives that filled it.

Cahermurphy Castle was built by the MacNamara family in the 15th or 16th century and is remembered as a notable example of a tower house in the Castlepark area. It reflects the defensive and social structures of Gaelic Ireland during the late medieval period.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
