Caheracoolia is a ringfort, a type of early-medieval agricultural and defensive settlement, typically dating between the 5th and 10th centuries AD. Local folklore often associates such sites with fairies, and they were sometimes avoided due to beliefs that they were inhabited or protected by supernatural beings.
