Muff holds a seventeenth-century house and bawn where stone walls still outline the shape of a life long gone. The post-medieval structure emerged when local people needed defensible space and domestic order under changing rule. Its boundary may have separated friend from foe, family from field, or simply marked where human ambition hardened into permanent form.
