Thirty-four Castle Street stands in Rothesay as a nineteenth-century tenement, its stones marked by the ordinary traffic of Bute lives. It may have held rooms for shipworkers, merchants or waiting families, though no surviving detail names them. The building still belongs to the town, not to display, and its doors answer only to their owners.
