Burnt spread in Tobar Na Múdán

This low-lying, level field, less than 500m E of Trabeg, was recently deep-ploughed and in the process a low, grass-covered mound was removed. When inspected, the remains consisted of burnt and shattered stones, intermingled with a large quantity of charcoal and spread over a sub-circular area about 7.5m in diameter. A small stream flows along the side of the field about 15m to N and the field is known as ‘Páirc an tSeana-Mhuilinn’ (An Seabhac 1939, 155). The above description is derived from J.
