Burnt pit in Loughlion

Burnt pit

What is recorded here

'Site 8', Loughlion was found 66m east of a burnt mound (KD022-108----). It was excavated (Thaddeus C. Breen, Licence No. 01E0846: www.excavations.ie) and comprised an oval pit, 0.9m by 0.5m and 0.34m deep, containing three fills, only the uppermost of which contained charcoal. Beside it was a smaller pit, in the bottom of which a small whetstone was found. Nearby were two more small pits, a possible post-hole and some spade cultivation furrows.
