What is recorded here

Geophysical survey (Licence no. 06R0135) identified an area of burnt archaeological material in advance of proposed development. Test-excavation (Licence no. 06E0996) confirmed the presence of charcoal rich material containing heat-shattered stone exposed for at least 8m (Turrell 2006, 13). Burnt mound, likely dating to the Neolithic or Bronze Age. Such features are commonly associated with ritual or industrial activities, though their exact function remains debated.
