What is recorded here

On relatively level terrain, in gently sloping grassland between the Douglas and Dinin river valleys. One of three burnt mounds (KK011-031----; KK011-033----) c. 70m to the NNE and c. 250m to NE respectively, near a spring. An area of black earth and small burnt stones was noted during ploughing. Burnt mound in Muckalee is a Bronze Age ritual or industrial site, characterised by a heap of heat-shattered stones, likely used for water heating. Its proximity to a spring and other burnt mounds suggests it was part of a broader ritual or domestic landscape.
