Dundalk's Mill Street once covered an unknown burial ground where articulated and disarticulated remains waited beneath the soil. Builders discovered the bones during pre-development testing in 1996, then changed their plans to leave the dead undisturbed. The chamber remains hidden beneath modern traffic, preserving people whose names and dates never emerged.

Articulated and disarticulated burials were noted during pre-development archaeological testing on Mill Street (Excavation Licence No. 96E0320). No evidence was uncovered to indicate a date for the remains. Development was modified to avoid impacting on the site (Meenan 1997, 81). Reference: Meenan, R. 1997 Mill Street, Dundalk. In I.
