Mín Lárach is a burial site where human hair appeared inside a sod of turf in February 1987. Seamus Kennedy received the turf in Gortahork, noticed the hair, and brought it to the Museum. The turf had been cut from several bogs in Meenlaragh, so the exact burial place remains unknown.

'In February 1987 a sod of turf containing human hair was handed into the Museum by a Mr. Seamus Kennedy of Gortahork, Co. Donegal. The turf was delivered to Mr. Kennedy, who noticed the hair and informed the NMI. No other body parts or artefacts were found. It was not possible for Mr. Kennedy to ascertain the exact location of the find as the consignment of turf delivered to him had been cut at a number of different bogs in the townland of Meenlaragh.’ (Cahill and Sikora 2011, Vol. 2, 467) Compiled by: Paddy O'Donovan Revised date of upload: 25 March 2014
