What is recorded here

Knoppoge holds a soldier's grave on an east-facing slope, though soil and grass have erased its edges. Aerial shadows once revealed parallel scars near the burial, but boot heels and rain have smoothed them into ordinary pasture. The dead man may have fallen in war or simply vanished from memory, his name lost before the hole was filled. What remains is a story told by locals and a faint suggestion in the land that someone was buried there and forgotten.

In pasture, on E-facing slope. According to local information, recently infilled hollow known as 'soldier's grave'. Shadow site (aerial photograph CASAP, January 1986) of two parallel scarps with possible fosses in vicinity of burial. No visible surface trace of these when site inspected.
