Under a recently cleared Kildare field boundary, four people waited in a shallow pit no deeper than a man’s knee. Two men, one woman and one unknown body lay together between the 11th and 14th centuries, perhaps part of a larger cemetery now lost. The earth kept them shallow, as if haste or humility had driven the digging, while the field above forgot them until steel cut through the grass in 1978.

In 1978, the NMI, excavated and collected the remains of four individuals (two adult males, one female and one of undetermined sex) from a shallow pit (dims. L 2.52m NW-SE; Wth 0.8m; D 0.28m) underneath a recently cleared field boundary. Two samples were subsequently radiocarbon-dated to between the 11th and 14th-century.
