What is recorded here

Two upright stones stand less than a metre apart in waste ground behind a house north of Castlemaine Harbour, their edges worn smooth by generations of rain. Local memory claims they mark the graves of two soldiers, though no name, date or battle has survived to confirm the story. The smaller stone leans slightly inward, as if still listening for the other.

Situated in waste ground at the rear of a house c. 150m N of Castlemaine Harbour, KE045-094---- consists of 2 upright stones standing within .7m of each other. The NE stone (KE045-094001-) is .6m high and .38m x .19 to .25m at base, its long axis orientated SE-NW. These are locally reputed to mark the graves of 2 soldiers.
