Knockanush Hill holds a forgotten burial ground on its north side, marked only by earthen mounds and local memory. Men walked that slope in 1940, pointing at bumps in the grass where ancient people laid their dead. The exact spot has slipped from modern knowledge, leaving the hill to keep its own counsel.

The precise location of a possible burial ground in the townland of Slievenavadoge recorded in the Minute Book of County Kerry Field Club 03/02/1940 (Vol. 1, 83) has not been identified. The Kerry Field Club recorded that; 'Mr. McMahon also pointed out the spot where it is traditionally believed that burials took place in ancient times. this is a place on the North side of Knockanush Hill and several earthen mounds are apparent'.
