Caldra, meaning burial ground, still hides somewhere in the fields of Shanmullagh. The name preserves a forgotten row of graves, a buried child or a family that stopped visiting when the land changed hands. Forgetting the exact spot did not erase the warning. The ground remembers what people stopped repeating.

There is a reference to a field called ‘Caldra’, meaning a burial ground, at Shanmullagh (IFC: Schools’ MSS ((936) 6: https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes ). Its precise location is not known.
