Near Reen or Galleon Point, anonymous mounds hold Spanish bodies from a forgotten conflict. The earth swallowed their names, leaving only shape behind. They bled onto Western Irish soil, then vanished into legend.

'Near Reen or Galleon Point are mounds of earth beneath which were buried the Spaniards who were killed' (Burke 1905, 14). Exact location not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992).
