What is recorded here

Kilkinnikin East holds a famine burial ground in tillage on a south-facing slope, marking nine and a half metres of lost life. Grave markers still define the irregular area, keeping the names of the forgotten visible above the soil. The land has been farmed around them, forcing people to walk past death and return later with food, memory, or mercy.
In tillage on S-facing slope. Irregular area (9.7m N-S; 9.4m E-W), known locally as "famine burial ground"; defined by grave markers. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
