Burial ground in Kilgraney (idrone East By.)

Burial ground

What is recorded here

Kilgraney in County Carlow contained a burial ground, but no visible trace remains to mark the exact spot where people were laid to rest. The lost graves may have vanished under soil, ploughs or time, yet the area still carries the weight of those forgotten deaths. Forgetting the location does not erase the fact that human lives ended there and were hidden beneath the earth.
The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Marked 'Site of Graveyard' on 1839 'OS 6-inch' map. No visible surface traces.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
