Burial ground in Gortdonaghmore — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

Fifteen low stone mounds still mark the western slope above the Shournagh River, each aligned east to west within a tangle of overgrowth. They may be famine burials, rows of grief dropped quickly into Cork earth before the grass forgot the shape of the work. That much is record; the rest is imagination, but it is hard to leave the place without hearing the absence of a name in every seam of stone.

In pasture, on NE-facing slope, on W side of Shournagh River valley. Area of overgrowth (54m NW-SE; 40m NE-SW) within which are c. 15 mounds of stones (L c. 2.2m; Wth c. 1.5m; H c. 0.5m). Long axis of each mound is approximately E-W. Possible famine burials. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
