What is recorded here

In pasture, on NE-facing slope, on W side of Shournagh River valley. Area of overgrowth (54m NW-SE; 40m NE-SW) within which are c. 15 mounds of stones (L c. 2.2m; Wth c. 1.5m; H c. 0.5m). Long axis of each mound is approximately E-W. Possible famine burials. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
