What is recorded here
Glasheenaulin holds a small circular burial ground where local tradition names children as the dead. The earthen bank rises barely a metre, yet it draws a clear line around the scrub and waits for attention. One possible marker sits to the east, pointing toward the lives removed before they could be remembered.
In scrub. Circular area (7.1m NE-SW; 6.4m NW-SE) enclosed by low earthen bank (H 1.1m). One possible grave marker to E. Known locally as children's burial ground.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
