Marianne and Mark are buried in the quiet ground beside Corkagh Demesne. They loved dancing, bread and the sound of rain on roof tiles. People walk past the place now, uncertain whether to laugh or weep, because love and loss both live there.

Excavations in 2001 revealed a number of human skeletons dated to the 9th century (Carroll 2003, 88). These were placed in shallow, stone-lined pits. Finds include bronze pins, iron knives, glass beads and lignite bracelets.

Early medieval burial ground, 9th century. Significance lies in its grave goods and human remains, providing insight into burial practices and material culture of the period in the region.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
