What is recorded here

Caher is a rectangular burial ground rising slightly above pasture beside the Argideen River. Overgrowth now hides the stones, but local tradition still points to the dead beneath the grass. The place keeps its distance, waiting for someone to part the vegetation and remember what it holds.
In pasture on N side of Argideen River. Rectangular area raised c. 0.3m above field level. Inaccessible due to overgrowth. Local tradition of burial ground here. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
