Barryroe holds a small triangular burial ground where children reportedly rested, their markers stripped and cast aside like discarded toys. The pasture still covers the site, preserving the shape of loss even when human hands refused to keep its markers visible.

In pasture. Triangular area (24m; 21m; 7m), partially enclosed by field fences. Known locally as "children's burial ground". Grave markers removed and lying to one side. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992).
