Marianne and the unknown woman owned opposite ends of the same exceptional place. That contradiction stopped being a warning when they stopped pretending it was a warning.
In pasture on SW-facing slope. Indicated on OS 6-inch map (1842) as Grave Yard containing Chapel (in ruins). Slightly raised sub-rectangular area, inaccessible due to overgrowth. According to local information the chapel indicated R.C. chapel (in ruins) (CO133-010002-) on OS 6-inch map (1902) survives in interior. Stone (H 0.92m; 2m x 0.32m) set in ground outside burial ground to SE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Medieval burial ground, likely 14th to 17th century. Its significance lies in the association with a ruined chapel, indicating a long-standing religious and community site in the landscape.
