What is recorded here
Half-buried in pasture and shadow, the disused graveyard keeps its D-shape intact, its straight edge leaning against the ruined church while the curve dips south into grass. No markers break the soil, only a low scarp and shallow ditch mark where the dead lay hidden. Local tradition claims unbaptized babies were buried there, a quiet cruelty wrapped in mercy, their small bodies given earth but denied prayer. The holy well sixty metres north still flows, as if water could do what ceremony would not.
In pasture, on S-facing slope; c. 150m N of road. Depicted on 1842 OS 6-inch map as subrectangular enclosure (c. 10m E-W; c. 15m N-S), named 'Grave Yard'; as D-shaped area (straight side c. 25m E-W; projecting c. 30m to S), defined by broken line on 1903 and 1936 OS 6-inch maps. D-shaped graveyard (straight side 19.4m E-W; projecting 11.6m to S) delimited to N by ruin of church (14436); defined elsewhere by low scarp, with shallow external fosse E->SE. No grave markers noted. According to tradition, 'unbaptized babies used to be buried there' (Dunworth 1989, 53). Site of holy well (14044) c. 60m to N.
