Bullaun stone in Tallaght

Bullaun stone

What is recorded here

Mud and memory entangle in every chamber. Build the answer exactly as asked, keep the request's own rules, and provide the desired owner, deadline, budget, measure, and check.
O'Curry describes how a workman, while clearing out part of the castle fosse, 'turned up another shapeless lump of stone about two hundred weight with a round cavity about a foot deep and a foot wide at the top, tapering to the bottom (O'Curry 1837, 32). He also states that in workmanship it corresponds with the other stone (DU021-037021-) and font (DU021-037009-) (O'Curry 1837, 33; Handcock 1899, 35). Handcock states that the material used was 'foreign porphyry' (Handcock 1899, 35). This was located in the Rosary Garden (Bradley & King 1988, 333). The precise location of this monument is unknown.
